Fortnite live event sees 5.6m players defeat Doctor Doom in hour-long battle

Fortnite brought the storyline of its current Marvel season to a head tonight in a climactic battle with Doctor Doom that attracted a concurrent peak of 5.6 million players.

Over the course of an hour, players worked together to tackle an enormous, rampaging version of the classic Marvel villain, until finally his armour cracked, his health bar was depleted, and he was sucked back into whatever corner of the Marvel multiverse he’d sprung from.

Fortnite’s own stats show an overall total of 5.6 million players in-game just after 7pm UK time tonight, when this evening’s live event began. Ubisoft acknowledges buyout reports, stating it "regularly reviews options"

Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars Outlaws studio Ubisoft has acknowledged last week’s buyout reports, stating it “regularly reviews all its strategic options in the interest of its stakeholders”.
On Friday, it was claimed Ubisoft and Chinese tech company Tencent were considering a buyout, to help stabilise and “bolster” the French firm, following a decline in its market value.
One of the possibilities reportedly being discussed to do this would involve teaming up to take Ubisoft private. These talks were said to be in the early stages, and nothing was certain.

Silent Hill 2 Remake "a legitimate evolution", says original director

The director of Silent Hill 2 has commented on the furore around some of the changes Bloober Team and Konami made to its reimagined Silent Hill 2 Remake, saying he “wants to try playing the even more immersive remake” himself.
In a thoughtful thread posted to X/Twitter, Masashi Tsuboyama said he’s “very happy” that the Remake exists, diplomatically adding, “whether it’s good or bad doesn’t affect the original.”

Silent Hill ARG gives us our best clue yet as to what game we're getting next

A website unveiled to mark Silent Hill 2’s anniversary earlier this week has given us our best clue as to what unannounced Silent Hill game may be on the way: either a Silent Hill 4: The Room Remake or even Silent Hill 4: Part 2.
At first, the Silent Hill Historical Society website looks little more than a bit of fan service thrown up to celebrate Silent Hill 2’s 23rd anniversary and the upcoming release of Silent Hill 2 Remake. But fans have been poking around the site and using its clues to piece together a new mystery.
