Nintendo's Palworld lawsuit looks to hinge on Pokéball patent

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s shock move to launch legal action against Palworld looks to hinge on a patent relating to how players throw Pokéballs.

Yesterday, Nintendo confirmed it was suing Palworld maker Pocketpair for the infringement of “multiple” patents – but did not detail which ones. Later in the day, Pocketpair itself said it was still to hear which patents it stood accused of breaching.

Sony removes PS VR2 charging icon from Welcome Hub blog post, as wireless speculation grows

Sony has updated yesterday’s blog post on the forthcoming Welcome Hub to remove an image of a PS VR2 charging icon that caused speculation of a possible wireless model.
The Welcome Hub allows users to customise their own tab with various widgets, including the battery charge of accessories. However, the image used in the blog post included a controller, earbuds, and what looks like a PS VR2 headset.
But the PS VR2 is wired and doesn’t require a battery charge. So why was this icon included?

Final Fantasy 16 producer asks fans to please not make "offensive" or "inappropriate" PC mods

Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida has asked fans to not mod “anything offensive or inappropriate” into the PC release of the game.
Speaking to PC Gamer, Final Fantasy 16 director Hiroshi Takai was asked about goofy mods he’d like to see in the game, but Yoshida stepped in to answer instead. And it’s clear he’s protective of the team’s work.
“If we said ‘It’d be great if someone made xyz’, it might come across as a request, so I’ll avoid mentioning any specifics here!” he said. “The only thing I will say is that we definitely don’t want to say anything offensive or inappropriate, so please don’t make or install anything like that.”

Alanko has also composed music for a number of Remedy’s other games, including Alan Wake 2 and Control.

Flaming Fowl Studios – the developer that announced then shelved a game on the same day back in April amid financial difficulties – has unveiled its latest project, a comedic sci-fi auto battler called Konfronto that’s due to release on PC later this year.

Flaming Fowl, which was founded in 2016 by former members of original Fable developer Lionhead Studios, first made a name for itself with the release of card battle Fable Fortune, but it’s perhaps known for its acclaimed digital adaptation of popular board game Gloomhaven.

The studio’s third release, a co-op RPG with turn-based combat called Ironmarked, was revealed back in April, but it wasn’t exactly a moment for celebration. Instead, Flaming Fowl’s unusual announcement came with the news the project was …
